New Compound Indy Grips
Tires

We
are pleased to announce the launch of the new compound Indy Grip "Super"
Tires.

detailed product reviews please click on these links :
These
tires are made using a new compound of silicone & other
rubbers and a
new high temperature,
high pressure molding process using all-new tooling.
Some of the benefits
of this new technology in tires are - extreme toughness :

This
toughness comes from the lack of voids and imperfections in the rubber.
The
big benefit of this is robustness for the installation process. While it
is
common
to tear or chunk the hand poured silicone tires during installation
and
special precautions such as warming & installing wet are needed, no
such
care is needed with these new tires making these a much more
"consumer
friendly" commodity.
"New
Compound" Indy Grips are made from "High Resiliency" rubber -
this rubber is
designed
to work well even on abrasive track surfaces such as Ninco. Most
ordinary
silicones
are torn, chunked or pock-marked when
running on Ninco track surfaces.
Another
benefit of this new tooling - improved appearance. All of these new tires
have
nicely rounded sidewalls and realistic appearance just like the
OEM
(original equipment) tire.
More
traction can also be expected - in our testing with a veteran driver these
tires
easily out-performed cars with conventional silicone tires. This same
advantage
was found on plastic home set track as well as the painted surfaces
of
routed commercial type tracks.
The
new process to manufacture this product also produces a rubber
that
is fully cured and will not deposit silicone oils or other
contaminants
on the track surface as will the conventional tires.
Another
feature worth noting is the tire ID code or part number that is molded
on the
back
surface. This helps to solve confusion that can happen
after
similar pairs of tires are removed from the original packaging.

Caveat
- The toughness of the
rubber that makes these tires friendly to install
also makes the rubber
difficult to sand using ordinary sand paper methods.
To
grind these tires - glue the tires to the rims (Permatex 65A recommended)
and
spin the axle / wheel / tire assembly in a lathe (preferably) using a counter
rotating
high speed grinding stone mounted in a die grinder or Dremel flex shaft.
