NOS (New Old Stock) 1960's Vintage Silicone Tires - AJ'S "Speed
Demons" Catalog Number TK200SS. These are molded in bright
"Ferrari Red" color silicone rubber. These tires claimed to be
"Designed for Blazing Speed & Greater Performance" back "in
the day". Silicone tires even today are the high performance preferred
choice since the silicone rubber gives great traction on almost any track
surface and the rubber is not prone to the ozone attack that affects
conventional rubber tires causing them to dry out, crack and dramatically loose
traction. These tires are 1 1/8 inch (28.6mm) outside diameter by 1/2 inch
(12.7mm) wide, have a nicely molded corner radius for smooth cornering and are
used with a 1/8 inch (3.2mm) #5-40 Threaded Axle. The rubber on these
tires is permanently molded on the aluminum rims and as a result will not slip
in any way and will always stay highly concentric and true to the axle
centerline, just what you want for the best performance.
high performance silicone tires were made with a "New Thermo Press"
process (high pressure, high temperature injection molding) to prevent any
bubbles or voids in the rubber and the company in the '60's originally stated
these were "Unconditionally Guaranteed - Will Not Chip, Chunk or
some vintage 60's NOS Conventional Rubber tires these will
perform very well on today's plastic surface home tracks or commercial routed
wood track surfaces.
