/ BACKORDER PROCESS - One area of considerable confusion is the process
to preorder or backorder merchandise. In this area we do have some
limitations as the result of the system that we are working in from our web site
hosting company. The major point of confusion is for preorder items that
we do not yet have in stock since those items will still show merchandise
"IN STOCK" even though the manufacturer has not yet shipped us those
stock numbers to sell. What we do in that case is to show a quantity in
stock that represents what we have on backorder with our supplier so that if an
order is placed that stock will be reserved for the customer placing the order
out of the (necessarily) limited supply. We will book all preorder items
with a zero weight and zero cost so that your credit card will not be
pre-authorized and held prior to merchandise becoming available to ship.
The other confusing points on some preorder items are that many times the cost
of the goods is not yet defined since if imported the variation in currency
rates when goods are imported can effect the final pricing, and in addition many
times the final part number may even be undefined so you will see strange
temporary part numbers as placeholders. BACKORDERS
are also sometimes an issue since the system as we have it configured today does
not accept backorders for merchandise temporarily out of stock. There are
2 ways to work around this limitation : 1.) When an item is out of stock you
will see a link on that items product page that is entitled "email
me when back in stock" and if you click on that you can input your
email and then the system will automatically send you an email as soon as that
item is restocked so you can reorder. 2.) Alternately, you can send an
email to : backorders@professormotor.com
with the quantity of an item that is desired and we will enter that order for
you when merchandise is again available OR you can click on the "click
here" link on the "email me when out of stock" page to send
that same email to backorders. SHIPPING - In
the continental USA MOST items are free shipping
for orders over $75 of shippable merchandise. SAFETY
WARNINGS ! - Many of the cars or parts
available in our shopping system contain small parts that are a potential choking hazard and are not recommended for children under 8 years of age.
Neodymium chassis magnets and chassis lead also pose potential serious health
hazards for small children - please pay close attention to the safety warnings
for those products.
